How to Implement ADDIE Model in E-learning
ADDIE model is an instructional systems design (ISD) framework that many instructional designers and trainers use to plan and implement training. The name is an acronym for the 5 stages of the learning development process: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
ADDIE model is flexible because it can be used in combination with other models. In fact, it led the way for most ISD models you see today!
Analysis
During analysis, the instructional designer identifies the instructional problem, the goals, and objectives, the learner’s needs, existing knowledge, and skills. The analysis also includes the learning environment, any constraints, and delivery options.
Design
In this stage, the focus is on structure, subject matter analysis, lesson planning, duration, content,
multimedia, delivery methods, assessment, and feedback. Next, the instructional designer storyboards
the ideas and/or create a prototype.
Development
The development phase is where the actual fun begins. The instructional designer uses their expertise
and skills with the various authoring tools to create and assemble the content assets that were created
in the design phase.
Implementation
Learning Management System (LMS) is the way to implement a training program. Usually, the
instructional designer use formats like SCORM, Tin Can API, etc. to publish and deliver the course. This helps the organization to track the learners’ progress.
Evaluation
Getting proper feedback from the learners is important to improve and revise the content. Include a
survey at the end of the course to identify any gaps you need to fill and address them right away.
